KASSANDRA GRAY FOR CITY COUNCIL
RAISING STANDARDS

Meet Kassandra
As a successful entrepreneur with over two decades in Catawba County, I’ve built three thriving businesses in the furniture and design industry. This experience has taught me how to stretch budgets, maximize efficiency, and deliver excellence without sacrificing quality.
While I’m newer to Newton itself, my perspective is shaped by years spent in communities that embrace innovative growth. I am committed to leading with vision, solving problems with practical solutions, and producing measurable results.
My passion is helping Newton reach its full potential through smart growth, modern strategies, and higher standards — ensuring our city is one that every resident is proud to call home.
Platform
Higher Standards for City Services
“What we tolerate becomes the standard — I believe Newton deserves better.”
Too many city services are operating at the bare minimum.
I will raise expectations for every department — from maintenance crews to administrative teams — to ensure residents receive professional, timely, and respectful service. When issues are reported, they will be addressed with care, not delay.
Modernize Outdated Services
“You can’t run a modern city on 1990s technology.”
Our city just began updating its operations software — but that’s only the beginning. I will push for modern infrastructure in all departments so Newton can become more efficient, more responsive, and better prepared to serve a growing population.
Respect Your Tax Dollars
“When taxes go up, residents should see the value — not question where the money went.”
The community is rightfully frustrated. Property taxes have increased, yet many people feel they're not seeing the return. I will fight for budget transparency, conduct audits, and advocate for smarter spending that prioritizes visible improvements and real community needs.
Clear Consistent
Communication
"You Shouldn't have to wonder what is happening at City Hall"
If elected, I will launch a public-facing newsletter and ensure major updates, projects, and concerns are shared regularly with residents. Communication shouldn’t be reserved for a 3 minute comment at council meetings — it should be proactive, honest, and easy to access.
Unify our Community
“A better Newton is one where no neighborhood is left behind.”
There is a noticeable divide in how resources and attention are distributed across our community. I will prioritize initiatives that bring people together — from cross-neighborhood programming to equitable improvements that serve allparts of the city.
Accountability in Leadership
“We need leaders who believe in doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.”
As a city leader, I won’t be satisfied with “good enough.” I will bring transparency to decision-making, follow up on citizen concerns, and make sure every city employee understands they serve the public — not the other way around.
Support for Small Businesses & Growth
“Our downtown revival is proof of what’s possible — now let’s keep the momentum going.”
With new stores, and recent upgrades, Newton’s downtown is on the rise. I’ll champion zoning policies, incentives, and support systems that help local businesses thrive while preserving our town’s charm.
