🛣️ Building a Stronger Newton
Every resident I’ve spoken with has the same concern: Newton must take care of what we already have before adding something new. People are tired of uneven sidewalks, crumbling roads, and streetlights that don’t work — all while hearing about “big plans” for the future.

🔹 Why Infrastructure Comes First
Safety: Broken sidewalks and potholes aren’t just eyesores — they’re hazards.
Trust: When basic maintenance is ignored, residents lose faith in city leadership.
Efficiency: It costs more to replace neglected infrastructure later than it does to maintain it now.
🔹 What “Infrastructure First” Looks Like
Sidewalks & Streets
Regular maintenance schedule so repairs aren’t left for years.
Proactive upgrades in high-traffic areas near schools, parks, and downtown.
Lighting & Safety
Well-lit streets deter crime and make neighborhoods feel safer.
Ensure broken or flickering/off color lights are fixed within days, not months.
Parks & Public Spaces
A city’s pride starts with clean, safe, and welcoming spaces.
Improvements like benches, trash cans, clean running water go along way.
Technology Upgrades
Continue modernizing city systems (like online bill pay), but focus on reliability and user experience.
Eliminate inefficiencies that frustrate residents every day.
🔹 A Smarter Way to Grow
Newton doesn’t have to choose between growth and maintenance — but we need the right order. Maintenance always comes first. After our foundation is solid, then we can focus on beautification and long-term projects.
✨ The Bottom Line
Infrastructure is the backbone of Newton. If we can’t maintain what we already have, how can we ask residents to support new initiatives? By putting infrastructure first, we’ll build trust, safety, and pride — and make Newton a place people want to call home.
The future looks bright — let’s build it together.
